Cooling & blow-off

Once vulcanization is done, the profile has to cool down in a controlled way before it can be processed further. Depending on the material and the requirements, that happens via air, an immersion bath, or spray cooling – sometimes with evaporative cooling or dedicated flood nozzles. If the surface is still damp afterwards, powerful blow-off with compressed air or a side-channel blower dries it before it heads into final finishing.

How it works

After curing, the profile needs to cool down in a controlled way without losing its shape. Water, thanks to its high heat capacity, pulls heat out fast and is the go-to choice when speed matters; air is slower but gentler, which often makes it the better option for delicate or intricate contours.

Influencing factors in detail

Water quality

Calcareous or contaminated cooling water gradually clogs conventional nozzles and weakens their effect. Surge nozzles are built for exactly this situation: they keep the cooling working reliably even when water quality is far from ideal.

Blow-off as the final step

After cooling, some moisture is often still left on the surface. Powerful blow-off with compressed air or a side-channel blower removes it reliably – a small step, but an important one before the profile moves on to further processing.
